Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his home with the benefits of community service. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football with his three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won two national championships. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth service In the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Then he settled in Tampa following college. He playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's top 10 young men. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993, he was a part of at the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
