Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream, and to become a pop icon worldwide. Swift shed her country roots like they were a second skin revealing that she was arguably the smartest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, one who could harness the mood of the moment and personalize it and also perform the reverse. Swift's talents could be seen in the first songs she released, most notably the neodue Tim McGraw. But on the second album Fearless that came out in 2008, she could identify who she is and find a wide audience. Fearless wound up having considerable reach not just in the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well within Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago, consolidated her prior successes, propelling her into superstardom. She grew in popularity through her subsequent three albums: Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within the genre she was a part of. Even though she had slowed the production of her folklore album, and Evermore albums in the year 2020, she was still leading the way in pop music.
